Students learn basic anatomy and will begin to develop an understanding of the way a figure inhabits space; thus able to successfully reproduce this space in two dimensions. The goal of the course is to learn academic, realistic representation of the figure: Emphasis will be on accurately rendering the figure on the page in proper proportion. Students work up to developing a personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
The composition of this piece works great with the diagonal lines of the hands in contrast to the direction of the diagonal lines in the background. I like how the figures look like a sketch while the hand on the left looks more whole in contrast. I also like the floating eyes, and lips along with your use of color.
You did a wonderful job on the composition and laying the figurative elements in a way which allowed them to work together as a whole piece. I like the heart and they eyes as well. Very interesting!
I love your use of layers and wallpaper background. Well done however if you rearranged it little to make it more compositionally should it would be amazing.
Your choice to use a colored background with varying textures makes this piece work. Had you simply left it blank, or used one color, I suspect that the collage would have seemed flat. Of course, creating a real space is clearly not your intent, but I do see the figures you have chosen work well. For example, the very top figure pops out because it is the whitest element in the composition.
Nicely done. I liked your layering technique. The body parts in the middle seem to flow into one another really bringing the piece together. The way the lips overlap the frame adds a sense of depth to the piece. I liked it very much.
Very well done, I especially like the patterns of paper and color scheme you chose. I think that they work wonderfully together, however maybe more contrast is needed in the hands from the background to illuminate them more.

ReplyDeleteThe mix of media works well here, perhaps the figure in the center could have been brighter to bring the eye to the center of the piece.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very surreal and active composition. Everything is very visually appealing to draw attention. The use of reds does well for the piece.
