MASTER COPY

  1. I think that you were able to master both the aesthetic and the mark-making style of the master artists. Your study just blows me away.

  2. I love the feel of these pieces. You really captured that storybook/mythological vibe. I love the smooth mark making you used, and also your composition works well as a series with your master copy.

  3. I love how you used negative space in your piece. I think that you were very successful as to how you recreated your copy. The value is really amazing and clean and I like how you don't have too many hard lines.

  5. Taking the graphic artist route was totally awesome! I loved the strange use of negative and positive space in the master work and your original piece. The waves in you model's hair mimic the wispy-ness of the raven's feathers. Adding a slightly darker gradient to the background of your original piece could fill some of the vastness of the empty space.

  6. Both pieces were very well done. I like the use of white space in the study and I think compositionally it was more effective than the copy. Nice!

  8. I love your master study so much more than the copy, which was still done really well. The figure in the study is extremely detailed and the smoke design is absolutely amazing. The values and form in both are great.

  9. I love the composition of your version of the master way more than the master copy I think yours is more interesting. I think you captured the magic of the essence of the master copy very well

  10. Both of these drawings are incredibly technical while still very emotive and expressive. Your study is a real embodiment of this idea, much more so than the copy in my opinion. When i saw this in class, i thought it would be interesting to darken the background of the study just a hair to make the figure's shirt really pop, but now i don't really think that would be necessary, the shirt seems to pop anyway just because of the surrounding darks. You're clearly a master of charcoal, it would be interesting to see these in a paint medium.

  11. I think both of these works are amazing. I couldn't tell the master from original and I love the imagination and dreamlike quality present in both. Sorry I can't put anything more constructive, I was just really drawn to these pieces and don't know if anything needs to be changed.

  14. The master copy and study work really well as a pair because of their wispy mark making techniques and the feathers in both works. Great use of value scale, and the clean lines, lights and highlights work great for the images. I actually prefer the master study to the master copy.

  15. Nice copy. Good use of value according to weber’s intent. Nice composition. Smoke and feathers give it that nice mystical nature. Mark making very similar.
