  4. The color in your piece is very successful. I love the hint of yellow that you chose, it gives a nice feel to your piece. Great shading too.

  5. I remember that you said you had problems with the foreshortening of your arm. I think that the arm looks "off" because it is the same size even though it is supposed to be recessing into space. Foreshortening is one of those things that can only be mastered after repetitive practice.

  6. The use of lighting is wonderful, giving a great feel to the piece, and I particularly like the detail on your face. Since I didn't see it in person, it looks like there is some yellow in the left bottom corner, and I don't feel that is as integrated in the piece.

  7. I like the lighting in this piece; it is very chiaroscuro. The mark making is very soft and delicate in some parts of your portrait, and in some places it is very detailed, like in your hand. Great portrait. There is a mystery as well because of the light vs. dark (background).

  8. Very nice! The piece has a "mystical" quality to it. The arm does look a bit "off", but I don't think it takes away from the quality of the piece much.

  9. Wow your piece is great I love the angle, and I feel as if this piece must have been challenging because of the fore shortening. I think it is very interesting I wish there was more color involved which would have made it more intersting.

  10. The overall figure is done superbly. The body and the face are done very well and the strongest part of the piece in my opinion. I love how you created the dress. The highlights and the darks work together so well to create form and shape in that area.

  11. i really love the fantasy of this piece! it seems as though you're conjuring a spell that you're going to hurl at a goblin. your use of tenebrism is very effective, and it adds to the drama of the piece. Watch the proportions on your left arm, it seems to be a little longer than it would be with the foreshortening. Great job!

  13. Cyra Bernal- I love the storytelling aspect of your self portrait. The light in the lower left corner seems to maybe be symbolic. Great contrast, composition and layout very strong.
