Students learn basic anatomy and will begin to develop an understanding of the way a figure inhabits space; thus able to successfully reproduce this space in two dimensions. The goal of the course is to learn academic, realistic representation of the figure: Emphasis will be on accurately rendering the figure on the page in proper proportion. Students work up to developing a personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
I love how you put a modern element of society to the portrait by using a iphone camera. Everything is very wild, bold and contains a playful use of mark making and colors. Plus it actually looks like you.
The very expressive, geometric, and architectural lines work great for the piece. They seem chaotic but ultimately create a form (your portrait). I also like your color choice, especially in the slight outline with the coral. The choice of using the camera app from a phone is clever in that through social networking we constantly are taking self portraits of ourselves. I find it ironic and funny you chose this for a drawing self portrait. Great job!
Very much enjoyed looking at your piece in real life. You could really see all the different media and line value you put into it. I liked how you left negative space for your highlights; really nicely done.
great job on your face love the style and the use of color, but the whole instagram screen is distracting and i feel as if your portrait is beautiful enough to stand alone.
i think your markmaking and tool handing really bring this piece to life. the way you captured depth in the hat and in your face really compliment the expressive, active marks around the figure. I think the iphone camera portal is an interesting idea, but it does need to be refined a little bit. It would be cool to see a bunch of these next to each other.
Huy Phan- Your use of line in incredible and well done. I love your splashes of color. Did you use your phone as a mirror? the fact that you used your phone screen to frame your face state that you use you phone a lot. Great job!
I like how you incorporated an Iphone into the piece. I think it works really well with how our generation is today.
ReplyDeletenice expressive lines. Seems very experimental. Keep pushing the colors and mark making.
