Students learn basic anatomy and will begin to develop an understanding of the way a figure inhabits space; thus able to successfully reproduce this space in two dimensions. The goal of the course is to learn academic, realistic representation of the figure: Emphasis will be on accurately rendering the figure on the page in proper proportion. Students work up to developing a personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
very nice, I like that your hair is the main focus of the portrait. The orange and purple contrast each other very well. the spirals give a feeling of motion.
The two colors complement each other very well. The patterns of the hair and even the background are great design elements. The face has good values of shades and highlights from a single monochromatic orange color. Definitely one of my favorite pieces.
I love your choices of color. The different shades of purple work really well together to create the hair. I think your composition is strong too, with nice values on the face.
I love your use of color and geometric shapes in this portrait. Clever way to depict curly hair. I also like the different tints and shade of violet used in your hair to create depth with highlights / darks but through color. Also with the orange in the face. Very successful.
I love the expression you were able to capture in just one corner of your face, very nice. The most successful part of your picture was definitely the color. The vibrant quirky nature of your choices connects well with the pattern of your hair and does not overwhelm your piece at all.
I am in love with your stylistic approach I feel as if you put a lot of thought into your piece. the portrayal of yourself comes off as you being a shy person because you are hiding part of your face.
I love the use of the complementary colors. The values amongst the shapes and in your face are very well done. There is a lot of contrast going on in this piece and I feel that is it's strongest element.
with such repetitive patterns, it is often hard to maintain compositional balance and depth, but you have done both very well. the breaks in the purple are very intelligently placed and serve as a good counterpoint to your orange face. your color choice is perfect! the orange and purple really compliment each other and they both sit very well on the off white/grey. awesome job!
Casandra Sandoval- I love your use of contrasting color as well as your use of pattern. The different tones of purple along with your bold orange face really make this piece pop! I absolutely love it!
The color on this is great. The use of different shades of orange and purple work very well.
