LONG-FORMAT FIGURE STUDY

  1. I like how you incorporated the red and purples and managed to make them look very natural.

  2. Some of the shading makes the figure look a bit two-dimesnional and flat, and if that was your intention, than it matches the 2D aesthetic. The composition is strong and so are the colors. The arm look a bit too stiff though.

  3. I agree that in some parts of the image, there is a two-dimensional look to the figure. I like the contrasting colors in the background and foreground as well as the textures made from your brushstrokes.

  4. This piece is interesting because the focus is on the torso and not the entire model; I like that. I recommend that you add more shading or highlights to create some three-dimensionality to the figure.

  5. I like your composition, and enjoy the fact that you didn't paint the whole model. I think your shading and use of color are very successful, and really add to the rounded quality of the model. And the highlights on the belly ring make it look real.

  6. The highlights that you were able to achieve are impressive, however I think darker shadows would make them more apparent. Also, her head seems to be floating in the dark background. In addition, you may want to watch where her shoulder is in comparison to her neck; they are a bit disjointed. All in all you did a really good capturing the softness of her figure with color and light.

  7. I really like the background of the painting. Very good colors. The skin tone is nice and I like the shadows and highlights on the nipples.

  8. I love how you chose to do such a close up of the model. Although your low lights and highlight are good I think more of them would make this piece look less flat.

  9. Overall, I like this piece. I agree that certain areas appear more flat than others, but I also think the framing may have played into that.

  10. I like your color palette, the soft tones work well. I would suggest a bit deeper shadows to make the highlights stand out more and bring a more 3D look to the piece.

  11. I think you paid some great attention to detail in certain areas of this piece. The detail in the belly button ring and the top nipple both look great. Try doing this through the rest of the piece. Overall, I love the colors and the composition.

  12. The the little stomach piercing is very detailed. I love the textured quality of the pillow. The strong dark back ground and pillow really higlights the whole figure.

  13. I agree that it looks the tiniest bit flat, but only through the model's arms. The way her stomach was painted looks clean and the splotches of colour are enjoyable. I would like to see more shadows and contrast.

  14. I think the body is well done excellent job. I dont like the brown soo much it does not look like it has a relationship with the body
