Homework: 3/5

TWO 20-minute drawings of your own face on mid-tone paper (can put two on a page). LOOK FOR WHERE & HOW MUCH value shift occurs!!! The more precise you are with this, the more realistic and believable your image will be in space. This can be done on the back of your grey page from class, or on the front of a new sheet of paper!

There are TONS of lessons out there, but remember we are concerned with PROPORTION, AESTHETIC INTEGRITY, VALUE, MARK-MAKING, and TOOL HANDLING right now.

1. Use black & white conte crayon ONLY
2. Use black, white, and sepia (mid-tone) conte crayon.

Play around! See how different marks and techniques can yield different results. NOTE: contrasting a cool mid-tone paper with a warm mid-tone color will force more recession, advancement of planar variations.

ALSO:
Make sure you comment on the first projects (by Friday!), and bring in your other mid-tone, grey and back paper, along with your conte crayons, for Thursday!

WE WILL BE MEETING IN THE PAINTING STUDIO DOWNSTAIRS FOR THURSDAY'S CLASS! If you do not know where this is you are welcome to meet upstairs and we can all go down together.
